Is it raining jaguars?

Center (1) : Jaguar Warrior

Yesterday morning, as I was lying awake in bed, preparing to face "the end of the world," I let my mind wander...

Maybe the Mayan prophecy wasn't predicting the death of the world, just the end of a false pretense around which humans had organized, one that caused needless suffering. Maybe these Maya were thinking of human sacrifice? Maybe they were thinking of global capitalism? Maybe that's redundant...

Maybe a flood of new understanding is upon us...

Maybe a tipping point of actionable intelligence regarding our own crumbling foundation has arrived...

Maybe we've always known there's nothing about human nature that explains or compels the exploitation, injustice, greed and cruelty associated with production and exchange under capitalism...

Maybe this fact has reached critical mass and all that remains is to act...

Maybe one of the most visceral predictions associated with the Mayan 2012 prophecy, the "rain of jaguars," is this call to action. For wildcat strikes! For reordering priorities! For a new way forward! For peace and justice and dignity and solidarity and love! For the people and the planet! Forever!

Friday, December 21st was the last day of work for many until 2013. Maybe we shouldn't go back until some guarantees (for these?) are achieved?

Maybe it's already happening...

Did you hear? Maybe it's already "raining jaguars"...

Zapatista Army of National Liberation Communiqué - December 21, 2012

Translation by ROAR Magazine:

21 December 2012

To whom it may concern

DID YOU HEAR?
It is the sound of their world collapsing.
It is that of our comeback.
The day that was the day, used to be night.
And night will be the day, that will be the day.
Democracy! Freedom! Justice!
